- Arrange to have mail, newspapers and subscriptions redirected
- Inform all the relevant authorities of your move, including RTA, doctor, electoral office, banks and other financial institutions, schools, insurance companies etc. Some can wait until after the big day
- Arrange to have all utilities (gas, electricity, phone, internet, water) disconnected and reconnected at your new home
- Pets can sense disruption. Plan for their care and transport well in advance
- Eat your frozen foods. Very little in your freezer will travel well
- Arrange any special parking requirements or access points the removalists need
- Drain fuel from the mower, whipper snipper, etc and arrange separate transport for any flammable liquids and gases
- Prepare a “survival kit”, including tea, coffee, medicines and a change of clothes. You may want to leave out your vacuum cleaner to do a final tidy after the furniture has been removed.
